Carnwath Golf Club's annual 'Club Championship' is the most prestigious competition contested by our Members, dating back almost 80 years in our history.

Our Gents Club Championship has been modernised for a new era of golf at Carnwath, now accompanied by the Charlie Porteous Cup. 

 

A long standing member of the Club, Charlie was known for consistently good golf, winning our Club Championship on 3 occasions in 1986, 1987 and 1991. His legacy lives on thanks to his family, with this fantastic new memorial trophy. 

 

The gents Club Championship is a test of the best scratch golf at Carnwath, but also an inclusive event that all Members should take part in. The tournament includes 4 qualifying rounds throughout the season open to all members regardless of handicap, culminating in a Club Championship Finals Day on Saturday the 24th of August to which 30 players will qualify via their best two scratch scores from the four qualifying events. The 4 qualifiers are spread over May, June, July and August. Players are designated tee times in their order of qualification, 30th to 1st.

The Club Champion will then be decided over the 36 holes played on the day, with a playoff in the event of a tie.

 Our Ladies Club Championship dates back almost 50 years and is a proud tradition of our Ladies section. The Ladies Champion is decided on the best 2 scratch scores played on the 4th and 11th of June. The Alison Coleman Handicap Championship runs in conjunction with the scratch competition on the same dates.

 Our gents Handicap Championship is played on Saturday the 15th of June over 18 holes with no qualification stipulations. The winner is the lowest net score on the day across all 3 divisions.

 Our Matchplay Championship is now played over the course of the season. It is open to gents with no qualification or handicap stipulations, though is an entirely scratch matchplay competiton. The winner is crowned Carnwath GC's Matchplay Champion.
